Athens Here We Come

Anfield '05 we kicked their ass
Anfield '06 we kicked their ass
Anfield '07 we kicked chelsea's ass once more

Istanbul '05 we went and won
'06 (who cares where) we took a break
Athens '07 HERE WE COME
WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

the entire defence had a great game. Carragher, Agger, Finnan, Riise, Reina. Mascherano was excellent, bar a mistake in the first half. Pennant was good, as was the workhorse Kuyt who ran down every single ball. Even Zenden had a much improved game whereas Gerrard, sad to say, was far from his best yet again, though he could do no worse than Crouch who had an awful game in my opinion..

ahh whatever, we won.. reina's penalty saves were superb.. the least that i can say.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
on a sour note, I seriously can't stand watching any matches at the hall tv lounge. why must there always be a bunch of idiots who gets on my nerves?? is it just Hall One, particularly block 16? to support Liverpool is a good choice. but to call yourself fans, you should at least get the names of the players right. these 4 morons came in 15 minutes late and talked nonstop without any consideration for the person who's quietly enjoying the game, namely me.
people who don't know a shit about what they are talking about should just shut the fuck up. so disgusted and irritated was i, that i couldn't bear to look at their faces even once, lest i spit and scorn at them should i chance upon them in school.
At the start, they made fun of all the black chelsea players.. makelele, drogba, essien, kalou.. all of them. a little pre-match excitement, i can live with that. "why is he so black?", "did he go for a sun tan?", "did he take an injection?", "they all look alike" .. blah blah .. but if by the 70th minute of the game they were still discussing how black essien is, then surely i can't be faulted for getting pissed.
incessant unintelligent unfunny senseless boastful LOUD crap talk throughout the 90min + half time + extra time + injury time + penalty kicks. fucking pests really. these are the fans i detest, those who watch one game a year and boast to everyone that THEIR team won last night.
if you are or know anyone like that, there should be plenty out there, kindly tell them to sit back, watch and learn, stop reading NewPaper, think before they talk and not to talk like they are playing Championship Manager. They can't even pronounce Steve Finnan correctly!! fuckin retards.. and I nearly groan when they mentioned Kuyt's name.. OMFG really.
I'm glad this is the last liverpool game that I'm forced to watch in hall. and thankfully we won. it makes everything slightly more bearable.
Study Days - 16th April
7.37am. 1st at the SAC: Champion Mugger showing championship form.
7.48am. 2nd at SAC. :: Mugger Alda :: who can wake up, have breakfast, shit and still make it there by 7.30am.
This is what you see if you're the first at SAC.
My bee hoon breakfast.
Johan showing off the crispy pancake that he bought for us from Bugis. His parents, visiting from Sweden, made a surprise visit to our stronghold the day before, enroute to touring NTU where their son has been wasting the past year at. Nice peeps.
Typical studying scene, to show that we really do study there.
The inflatable pillow is good for sleeping. When placed over the head, it serves as a hairband and effective earplugs at the same time. This is an indispensable studying companion. Makes you look like Empress Dowager too.
Suddenly everybody wants to be empress dowager the old maid.
I told them i once joined the Samsung Olympic Torch-bearer competition where one tries to hold his hand up for as long as he can. Someone proposed a challenge. The rest crazily agreed.
After around 15min, it was down to me and Johan. Eventually I emerged victorious, of course. Singapore 1:0 Sweden.
The 10,000th Shot
IMG_0100.JPG
13th April 2007, Friday
8:52:19pm
This is the 10,000th shot that I took using my Canon S2 IS, since i bought it roughly in September 2005. That's about 1.5 years of intensive shooting, averaging out to 555 shots per month. The milestone was sadly reached without me realising it, and took place in the middle of a tussle between Alda and Johan when we were studying at the SAC.
The camera counter resetted itself after the 9900th photo, a number, which i figured out only later, that was significant simply because the last photo of that set of hundred would exceed the 4-digits maximaum. Hence 9900 + 100 = 10000. Which means that my 20,000th shot would be IMG_0200.JPG.
If only it had been a better shot, a more carefully thought out one. But looking back, I realise I've come a long way since I first laid my hands on this camera. I've learnt a great deal, photographed memorable parts of my life, and taken quite a number of photos for my friends, hoping I've left a bit of me in them, like how they have impressioned upon my life.
Study Days - 13th April - Cats and Dogs
Pao and Weiweiwei made a late night visit.. and end up doodling.
Study Days - 12th April - Pretty Boys
We did something nasty using Johan's camera.. Who's the prettiest of them all?
Study Days - 11th April - Jumping Jacks
We were bored and decided to take a synchronized jumping photo. It was no mean feat and took us like 14 tries which equates to alot of jumping, finger pointing and plenty of laughters.
We actually got it right on the 11th attempt. But they said my hands were stuck in my pockets and hence voided the photo. I thought it was a good jump on my part.
All our valiant attempts. It's really not easy when shooting using an unpredictable camera timer.
Sleeping Alda
Color blind
PFA Premier League Team of the Year 2007 - Edwin van der Sar, Gary Neville, Nemanja Vidic, Rio Ferdinand, Patrice Evra (all Man Utd); Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Cristiano Ronaldo (all Man Utd) & Steven Gerrard (Liverpool); Didier Drogba (Chelsea) & Dimitar Berbatov (Tottenham)
PFA is a bunch of nuts.
the keeper and 4 defenders come from a team whose defence isn't even 2nd best in the league. good defenders don't toe-poke the ball into his own net while his keeper is running in the opposite direction, and this is just one of the many blunders we've witnessed. what a joke.
carragher has been immense for liverpool the whole season, and last season and last last season if anyone bothers. so was carvalho for chelsea. and fabregas for arsenal. gerrard wasn't even close to his best for ages.
they must have picked half the team before the first ball was kicked last august.
The Proper Shade of Red
I am half a manchester united fan. I stay up past 2am watching livescore.com, waiting for middlesbrough to kick their ass.
And my half of a man u fan is twice greater than that of my room-mate's, who is a man u fan, like half of those red devil fans claim they are. i can't believe he has watched more than one out of their last 10 games.
In fact, I'm quite sure I've celebrated more goals that man u had conceded than he did for goals that they scored.
I am a Liverpool fan, and this is why
sunset
I wish i have my camera with me now.
the sun sets,
gradually hiding behind the clouds
the amorphous body of grey, traced out
by hand in blazing gold
the skies casted in heavenly shades
of pink and blue.
colours mysterious even,
to van gogh's hues
funny, but perhaps not so strangely,
i'll miss the ntu exam period,
and the sunset that comes with the end of each day.
Dived!
Yeah i'm back from diving at Pulau Lang Tengah, neighbouring island of the more well known Redang and Perhentian. Reached Singapore on Tues night, a day later than I had thought, no thanks to some tricky information from my friends.
Nice island, decent resort, good weather, okie food, great snorkelling (if you know where) but the diving was kinda disappointing from what we had expected.
will update again when i feel free. which shouldn't be anytime soon.
and here's something interesting that I chanced upon while searching for the amazing mimic octopus that weilong told us about: scary shit from the ocean depths
glad we didn't bump into any of these monsters.
i'm hardly prepared for it.
news flash in brief
- finally submitted my fyp report today.. an end to the countless days of intensive brain juicing. all in, i wrote only about 50 odd pages of rubbish, but that will do. i can't imagine my supervisors and examiner taking more than a cursory glance at all our hard work. i'm tired man. but it's not over yet.. that bitch of a report has got a second calling due in a couple weeks.. the amended final report or whatever. when can i start attending my lectures and tutorials again...?
- xphysique's over. we finished somewhere in the anonymous middle of the pack, and didn't bother to stay behind for the results that day. abseiling went okie.. not that scary. in fact, it's nothing much once u get both legs over that 6 storeys high ledge. we ran like dogs right from the start, covering a hefty distance from youth park till marina bay. got stuck with a screwed up bike during the cycling element and everyone were just breezing past me. no good. the river crossing part was lame. canoeing was tiring.. and that's about it.
of all days, my body chose to give up on me during the event. initially my left knee gave way. then something went wrong somewhere under my ribs, and i ran the last few stations with what felt like stomach cramps... fucckkkkk... the internal organs were all scrunched up in a knot.. most disturbing. i tried to hold my breath and run, but realised that i couldn't go very far like that. i had no choice but to wobble along like a wuss. but still, our team had fun.
- today, something's wrong with my knees still. i climbed the stairs like i'm 75, with sharp pain somewhere. maybe soccer this sunday will put things right.. it's been too long man.. i'm leading a deprived life.
- diving at pulau lang tengah 30th march till 2nd april. 3 projects and 2 assignments to complete by then. and an amended fyp report. 10 days. then comes exams. i'm brilliant at getting myself into shitloads of agony really.
- the green form appears on the table asking me to tick the date that i'll vacating my hall. i don't feel quite ready for this. i'm actually graduting soon.. a bit too soon. i signed it with somewhat a heavy heart.
facing death and spitting in its face, and then start a new blog.
i'm an invalid.
the bane of meritocracy.
my final year project report is due in 8 days. i estimate around 60 pages is needed. a whole week of good intentions, and i'm still at page 2 of the introduction. not to mention the other 4 projects due within a month. if this is football i'll get red-carded for time wasting.
up to my ass with all these stuff to do. or up to my neck. whichever is more intense. and did i do them? nope. i casually flick it off my mind and started a new blog instead.
oh-brilliant-shit.blogspot.com
this is where i'll detail down whatever places that i've explored. my travel blog. where i show off my skillfully edited photos. starting from the recent Gunung Stong trip. will add more when i find time.
fyp fyp.. i am much braver than i think i am, or ought to be.
one more time
today is a cloudy day, a hollow weekend
so is this the end that is long overdue, or yet another false alarm? i'm tired too. shall not think about this for now.
i'm feeling absolutely moodless to do anything that requires thinking right now. would have gone for a run, but for the niggling knee problem that's back again. a little longer than usual. hope it holds up for tmr's xphysique.
speaking of which, i'm not even sure how the event is like. zero preparations. not that i mind though. would have joined it just for fun.. but now that i think of it.. i do need to raise some money if i'm to go mt kinabalu and diving in may..
fond memories of such races.. in the 'Mazing Singapore Race, zijing + fei + feli + me.. Team Cucumber finished 6th out of 100++ teams.. but if anyone would care to listen, we were firmly headed for the top 3 spots till the organizers screwed it all up. still, that was a good experience. we were a happy team then.
in the NTU ODAC's Rat Race, junwen + feli + me, we finished 3rd, and we strongly suspect the 2nd team cheated. still, we were a happy team.
then in the Great Maritime Adventure, fei + feli + me, we got promoted to 3rd after the team ahead of us got disqualified. easiest race among the 3, kinda silly.. and lotsa money. Won $5k and some mp3 players, though ironically, that was the saddest time, and also our last event together.
i hope we have fun tomorrow, alda + weisiong + zhenhan + me. dun fall off from abseiling and die. thinking about abseiling makes me nervous, just a little.
