Study Days - 16th April

7.37am. 1st at the SAC: Champion Mugger showing championship form.

7.48am. 2nd at SAC. :: Mugger Alda :: who can wake up, have breakfast, shit and still make it there by 7.30am.

This is what you see if you're the first at SAC.

My bee hoon breakfast.
Johan showing off the crispy pancake that he bought for us from Bugis. His parents, visiting from Sweden, made a surprise visit to our stronghold the day before, enroute to touring NTU where their son has been wasting the past year at. Nice peeps.

Typical studying scene, to show that we really do study there.

The inflatable pillow is good for sleeping. When placed over the head, it serves as a hairband and effective earplugs at the same time. This is an indispensable studying companion. Makes you look like Empress Dowager too.

Suddenly everybody wants to be empress dowager the old maid.

I told them i once joined the Samsung Olympic Torch-bearer competition where one tries to hold his hand up for as long as he can. Someone proposed a challenge. The rest crazily agreed.

After around 15min, it was down to me and Johan. Eventually I emerged victorious, of course. Singapore 1:0 Sweden.

The 10,000th Shot

IMG_0100.JPG
13th April 2007, Friday
8:52:19pm

This is the 10,000th shot that I took using my Canon S2 IS, since i bought it roughly in September 2005. That's about 1.5 years of intensive shooting, averaging out to 555 shots per month. The milestone was sadly reached without me realising it, and took place in the middle of a tussle between Alda and Johan when we were studying at the SAC.

The camera counter resetted itself after the 9900th photo, a number, which i figured out only later, that was significant simply because the last photo of that set of hundred would exceed the 4-digits maximaum. Hence 9900 + 100 = 10000. Which means that my 20,000th shot would be IMG_0200.JPG.

If only it had been a better shot, a more carefully thought out one. But looking back, I realise I've come a long way since I first laid my hands on this camera. I've learnt a great deal, photographed memorable parts of my life, and taken quite a number of photos for my friends, hoping I've left a bit of me in them, like how they have impressioned upon my life.

Study Days - 13th April - Cats and Dogs

Pao and Weiweiwei made a late night visit.. and end up doodling.

Study Days - 12th April - Pretty Boys

We did something nasty using Johan's camera.. Who's the prettiest of them all?

Study Days - 11th April - Jumping Jacks

We were bored and decided to take a synchronized jumping photo. It was no mean feat and took us like 14 tries which equates to alot of jumping, finger pointing and plenty of laughters.

We actually got it right on the 11th attempt. But they said my hands were stuck in my pockets and hence voided the photo. I thought it was a good jump on my part.

All our valiant attempts. It's really not easy when shooting using an unpredictable camera timer.

PFA Premier League Team of the Year 2007 - Edwin van der Sar, Gary Neville, Nemanja Vidic, Rio Ferdinand, Patrice Evra (all Man Utd); Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Cristiano Ronaldo (all Man Utd) & Steven Gerrard (Liverpool); Didier Drogba (Chelsea) & Dimitar Berbatov (Tottenham)

PFA is a bunch of nuts.

the keeper and 4 defenders come from a team whose defence isn't even 2nd best in the league. good defenders don't toe-poke the ball into his own net while his keeper is running in the opposite direction, and this is just one of the many blunders we've witnessed. what a joke.

carragher has been immense for liverpool the whole season, and last season and last last season if anyone bothers. so was carvalho for chelsea. and fabregas for arsenal. gerrard wasn't even close to his best for ages.

they must have picked half the team before the first ball was kicked last august.

The Proper Shade of Red

I am half a manchester united fan. I stay up past 2am watching livescore.com, waiting for middlesbrough to kick their ass.

And my half of a man u fan is twice greater than that of my room-mate's, who is a man u fan, like half of those red devil fans claim they are. i can't believe he has watched more than one out of their last 10 games.

In fact, I'm quite sure I've celebrated more goals that man u had conceded than he did for goals that they scored.

I am a Liverpool fan, and this is why

sunset

I wish i have my camera with me now.

the sun sets,
gradually hiding behind the clouds
the amorphous body of grey, traced out
by hand in blazing gold
the skies casted in heavenly shades
of pink and blue.
colours mysterious even,
to van gogh's hues

funny, but perhaps not so strangely,
i'll miss the ntu exam period,
and the sunset that comes with the end of each day.

Dived!

Yeah i'm back from diving at Pulau Lang Tengah, neighbouring island of the more well known Redang and Perhentian. Reached Singapore on Tues night, a day later than I had thought, no thanks to some tricky information from my friends.

Nice island, decent resort, good weather, okie food, great snorkelling (if you know where) but the diving was kinda disappointing from what we had expected.

will update again when i feel free. which shouldn't be anytime soon.

and here's something interesting that I chanced upon while searching for the amazing mimic octopus that weilong told us about: scary shit from the ocean depths

glad we didn't bump into any of these monsters.
